Marketing Campaign Report Presentation: What to Include

A campaign report has one job: show whether the campaign worked and what to do next. Clients and managers do not need every metric. They need the right ones, explained clearly.

A clear campaign report structure

  1. Title. Campaign name, brand, dates and channels.
  2. Summary. The headline result in one sentence, plus two or three supporting points.
  3. Objectives. What the campaign set out to achieve and the KPIs agreed at the start.
  4. The idea and execution. The creative, the audiences and the channels used.
  5. Results against KPIs. Each KPI with the target and the actual result.
  6. Channel breakdown. How each platform performed and why.
  7. Best and worst performers. Creatives, audiences or placements that stood out.
  8. Learnings. What you now know that you did not know before.
  9. Recommendations. What to keep, change or test next time.

Choose metrics that match the objective

Report against what the campaign was meant to do:

ObjectiveUseful metrics
AwarenessReach, impressions, frequency, video views, cost per thousand impressions
ConsiderationClicks, click-through rate, engagement, landing page views
ConversionConversions, conversion rate, cost per acquisition, return on ad spend

Showing reach for a sales campaign, or sales for an awareness campaign, confuses the story.

Show the creative

Include screenshots of the best performing ads next to their results. People remember visuals, and it makes the learnings much easier to understand.

Explain the why

A number without an explanation invites questions. For every key result, add one line on why you think it happened. For example: "Video outperformed static because the first two seconds showed the product in use."

Finish with clear recommendations

The recommendation slide is often what clients act on. Make each point specific and practical: what to do, on which channel and what you expect to happen.
